B Corp
A B Corp is a company verified and certified by B Lab to reach high accountability, transparency, environmental and social performance standards. Get B Corp compatible with FounderCatalyst.
B2B
B2B, otherwise known as business-to-business, is when a commercial transaction occurs between one business and another (rather than an end consumer).
B2B2C
B2B2C, otherwise known as business-to-business-to-consumer, is when a business reaches end consumers through a third party business, but isn't allowed to interact with them directly through their brand.
B2C
B2C, otherwise known as business-to-consumer, is when a business sells directly to end consumers without using a business go-between.
Board
A company's Board of Directors is elected by shareholders and governs the company. The board's role is to supervise management and implement a strategy.

Board Observer
A board observer can attend board meetings and receive board packs and similar information, but not participate in voting.
Board of Directors
a.k.a. Board
A company's Board of Directors is elected by shareholders and governs the company. The board's role is to supervise management and implement a strategy.
Bootstrap
Bootstrapping draws only from existing resources without using venture capital or large loans. For example, bootstrapping can involve using personal savings, existing technological devices, or even, like Steve Jobs, a garage as an office.
British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association
a.k.a. BVCA
The BVCA, the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, is the public policy and industry body advocating for the UK's venture capital and private equity industry.
Broker
A broker is a company or person who, for a commission, organises and carries out financial transactions between a seller and buyer.
Burn rate
A burn rate describes the speed at which a company spends its money.

Business Asset Disposal Relief
You may be able to pay less capital gains tax when you sell (or 'dispose of') all or part of your business by using Business Asset Disposal Relief. This means you'll pay tax at 10% on all gains on qualifying assets, up to a lifetime limit of £1 million.
